Find Out More About Tibetan Singing Bowls

August 6th, 2009

There are many religious concepts that relates ambiance to the peace of mind and soul of a person. In order to get into the thought of the Super power one need to concentrate and meditate. This can be done by using various techniques and one of the methods, which the Buddhist use for their mediation is the Tibetan Singing bowls. They are even referred to as a Himalayan Singing Bowls as it has instigated mainly from Nepal, Bhutan, Mongolia, India, China, Tibet, and Afghanistan.

The popularity of the singing bowl is expected to have spread through the trade routes. It is also believed that Buddha, Padmasambhava, may have travelled across Himalaya from India to Tibet. Historians cannot determine the exact time from when singing bowls came in practise but they were first used in India almost 3000 years ago and in Tibet 1000 years ago.

Different people have different beliefs and it is same when they talk about the singing bowl. Some say it was initially used as a begging bowl and for food. Some monasteries even use it as a trophy or prize to give it to others. Smith, who used to travel from one place to another usually collected the things and materials in the journey and made the bowls out of It., while some thought it was the make of monks. Theses all the stories related to a singing bowl but the fact is that it is a special type of bell. This bell is not hanging but it rests on its bottom. Although there were so many stories behind this bell but still it is used by the people for medication and offering prayers and is a holy thing.

Ancient Tibetan singing bowls were generally made from seven different metals including gold, silver, mercury, copper, tin and iron. Theories are also there that these bowls were made from the remains of meteorites. The sound produced by the singing bowl would differ upon how the different quantities of metals are mixed together. The metals were mixed to form an alloy, which was left to cool before being beaten up in the form of bowl. Evidences have been found that many bowls had been made from more than seven metals, which support the myth of travelling smiths. Because of all the precious ingredients in the alloy, ancient bowls have a much richer sound than the bowls made today.

The modern singing bowls are often made by pouring metals in a cast. These singing bowls are smoother and generally easier to play. Hand hammered bowls are also available in the market but the tradition of ancient bowls are still considered to be divine. Playing a singing bowl is quite easy and anyone is able to play most bowls in less than five minutes.

How can you play the Tibetan Singing Bowls so that the sound it produces is in rhythm? You need to simply circle a stick around the outside of the Tibetan singing bowl and you can produce the rhythm. When you start circling initially, you can hear a hum but when you continue for long this humming sound increases. It does not only produce humming sound but also produce multi-phonic sounds along with multiple harmonic overtones. This is all because of the use of different alloy mixtures to make the bowl. Even the modern bowls can produce this sounds provided they are made up of good quality bronze but nowadays they use a cheap alloy to make bowls so only monophonic sound is produced .

The main use of Tibetan singing bowl is in meditation and it creates such an environment in the surroundings that one can concentrate very deeply. You can even use the singing bowl in the yoga classes where someone else plays it that helps you to concentrate in classes. The sound produced by this singing bowls is so pleasant and effective that it can keep the bad souls away from you and thus all the trouble vanishes.

Singing bowls though considered Buddhist sacred belief but are wonderful to use in outside environment and at your home. These bowls are recently gaining more popularity in the west with the preaching of Buddhism and practise of yoga exercises. Singing bowls can also produce water memory effects. If you play the bowl, its multi frequency sound creates a vibration of the water surface in the rhythm of the tone being played. Tibetan singing bowls are often used as gift as a sign of grace or gratitude. Its believed to be sacred and a piece of art. It can also serve as beauty at home when used to decorate.

Because of this, more and more people are on the quest of making their work outs provide more focus on developing their biceps. But as what was said earlier, only a handful are successful in achieving the best results on a bicep work out while most have insufficient knowledge on how to properly execute a bicep work out. Various ways and techniques should be given much importance in order to get the most out of the said work out.

What most people often take for granted is giving focus on antagonistic muscles. These muscles are the opposing types that balance each other. Some good example include the biceps and triceps, the chest and upper back, the abdominals and the lower back, and the quads and the hamstrings. This group of muscles should be given of equal importance on your work outs in order to balance the results. This is important in order to ensure a growth of maximum potential on opposing muscles. The New IT List: The Glycemic Index

August 3rd, 2009

In the past, the glycemic index list was something only people with diabetes knew about. Now, it is being referred to by health buffs or those who wish to be healthy as well.

Before we discuss the list, it is important to know what the glycemic index is first.

Glycemic Index

In order to monitor a person’s glucose levels in the blood, the glycemic index was formulated by medical experts specifically for their diabetic patients.

It is a system that rates foods on the basis of its effects on a person’s blood glucose levels. The response is given a score between zero to one hundred. Those foods that are processed rapidly by the body and thus cause an equally rapid increase in blood glucose levels are categorized as having high glycemic index.

Meanwhile, foods with a low glycemic index are those that are processed gradually and release blood glucose at a steady pace. These foods regulate the blood glucose levels in your body.

This standard of measuring food has proliferated to the general public and is no longer restricted those diagnosed with diabetes. It has been found to be beneficial to those who are obese those who have cardiovascular problems as well.

What’s The Glycemic Index List?

Now that you have a grasp of what the glycemic index is, you will want to go to the next step, which is knowing what the glycemic index list is.

The list contains an enumeration of viands that have a corresponding number scoring.

The important part about the glycemic index list is that it has what you need. No matter if you’re considering eating a piece of bread or a nice bowl of pasta, it shows the numbers.

Comprehending it is not so hard. There is no need to analyze the scoring. A big number means that the glycemic index of the food is high, therefore you will know that you need to avoid this food.

Why Follow It?

You may be wondering why everyone is so into the glycemic index list now, when it seems so restrictive and reserved for those only with medical conditions.

People are starting to see the wisdom in following the guidelines originally formulated for those diagnosed with diabetes.

It is a great way to maintain your ideal weight and keep a healthy lifestyle.

Quick Recap

Here’s what you learned about the glycemic index list:

- Glycemic index is the measure a food’s effect on a person’s blood sugar.

-The glycemic index list is comprised of an enumeration of various foods and their corresponding glycemic index.

-The glycemic index was originally made for those who are diabetic, but now many non-diabetics are using it to lose weight and improve their health.

There are a lot of different herbal supplements available that purportedly solve a person’s snoring problem. At the very least, some of the supplements provide some relief. These generally act by causing the airway to open more at night or by reducing nasal congestion. Visit your health food store to see what they have for stop snoring aids.

Nose Strips and Throat Sprays

Nasal strips are often touted as effective stop snoring aids. These little strips go on the outside of the nose and they work to open the nasal passage more. This creates a larger airway and makes breathing much easier, especially if you have a cold.

Nasal sprays are often used to end snoring. These sprays help to ease nasal congestion and make it easier to breathe at night. Some people like to use these stop snoring aids, but many people believe that they don’t really help much.

Sprays for the throat work by lubricating the throat area. This is done because most snoring occurs when a person sleeps on their back with an open mouth. Easy Astral Projection Techniques

August 3rd, 2009

As is to be expected, there are many different astral projection techniques which people can use in order to help them astral project. Of course, because all people are different, it only stands to reason that while a certain technique may work for one person, it may not work for everybody. Strangely enough, most people who experience difficulty, do so because they are unable to relax sufficiently, rather than because of the techniques not working.

The bottom line is; irrespective of which astral projection techniques you choose to use, absolute relaxation is crucial. Unfortunately, many people who are new to astral projection have difficulty relaxing mainly because of unfounded fears. For the most part, these fears are a result of false rumors, claiming that it’s possible for one to be harmed while astral projecting. Luckily, the Canterbury Institute conducted thorough research regarding this, in an attempt to put an end to such misconceptions.

In fact, the Canterbury Institute used 2,000 volunteers, all of whom participated in astral projection, and of course not one of those people were harmed in any way after following the various astral projection techniques. More importantly though, the Canterbury Institute followed all the volunteers for the next three years and during that time, none of them reported any problems and neither did any of them have any complaints.

So, now that we’ve managed to brush aside any fears related to astral projection, let’s take a look at some effective astral projection techniques which are relatively easy and which have helped scores of people. The first technique, known as the ‘Monroe Technique’ consists of seven basic steps.

* Relaxing mind and body. The simplest way to achieve this is by practicing deep breathing, in addition to relaxing all the muscles of the body one at a time. You can do this by tensing and then the releasing them, starting with your toes and then working your way up through the rest of your body.

* Reaching a hypnotic state. Essentially you need to reach a point where your mind and body is just on the verge of going to sleep, although of course you don’t want to actually fall asleep. This can be achieved by using the gazing method. Simply lie on your bed and begin staring at something until such time that your eyes close and yet you’re still able to see the object.

* When you reach a point where you can still see the object even though your eyes are closed, then you need to deepen your current state of mind even more. This can be done by looking around the room while your eyes remain closed. Amongst other things, you may very well begin to see some light patterns and even a sort of purplish haze inside the room. This is perfectly normal and there is no need for you to pay much attention to it. Instead, once the light is no longer visible you can take that as a sign that you’ve entered a deeper state. In all probability you will be so relaxed by this stage that you’ll hardly be aware of your physical body at all. It should be mentioned that according to the Monroe technique, this is extremely important.

* Likewise, this next step is also to vital according to Monroe. Here you will need to enter into what is known as,’the state of vibration’. Interestingly enough, most people who practice astral projection claim to feel the vibrations at an early stage of the projection. In fact, most of these people believe that these vibrations occur just as your astral body begins to separate from your physical body. Once again, this is perfectly normal so there is no reason to be alarmed when it happens.

* Controlling your state of vibration. In order to control the vibrations one should focus on moving them through your body. Using your mind, you should attempt to spread these vibrations over your entire body so that it feels as though there are waves washing over you. You need to keep practicing this until such time that you can bring on these waves whenever you choose, and once you are able to do that, you’re ready to leave your physical body.

* One of the most vital components to astral projection is having sufficient control in order to ensure that it’s your mind that is in power. In order to strengthen your existing level of control, Monroe recommends that people practice partial separation. Here again, one should focus on leaving your physical body although in this case, you should only allow your hand or foot to go. Try to stretch your hand or foot out to towards an object which is nearby and then go ahead and push your hand or foot straight through the object. Once you manage to do that successfully, you can allow your hand or foot to return to your physical body and then you can go ahead and begin slowing down the vibrations in order to end your session.

* This last step is where you actually get to leave your physical body. Once again, you can follow all the previous steps but now, rather than only allowing a hand or foot to leave from the physical body, you’re going to allow complete separation. In order to do this, you need to focus on just how weightless your body really is. In fact you can even try to imagine that your body is made up of feathers which are being blown around by the wind. At this point, your astral body should be starting to leave your physical body and this will become apparent as you begin to feel as though you are floating.

As is to be expected, there are various other techniques which one should try, such as the Rope Technique, Anchor Technique, and the Gazing Method. It is recommended that everyone try these different techniques in order to establish which astral projection technique works best for you as an individual.

What you do need to bear in mind however, is that not everyone can astral project immediately simply by using one of the techniques mentioned above, because after all, it does take practice.

Thanks to modern sound technology, those wishing to astral project can now make use of a shortcut. There is currently a new technique being used in order to induce a meditative state of mind which is necessary for actual projection. This technique aims to synchronize the two hemispheres of the brain by means of binaural beats. Basically, binaural beats consists of sound waves being played into each ear using different frequencies.

One can also opt for hypnosis recordings which have been designed to assist those interested in astral projection. These aim to reassure ones subconscious mind that it’s perfectly acceptable for one to leave ones physical body.

Irrespective of what anyone may have told you in the past, astral projection is without a doubt a life changing experience, and the good news is, anyone can do it simply by using the techniques mentioned in this article.

Japanese Green Tea-A Healthy Drink

August 3rd, 2009

Many people would actually be surprised to know that Japanese green tea actually originated from China. That’s right; it was their highly advanced neighbors who were making use of green tea well before the Japanese ever got exposed to it.

The Chinese had been making use of green tea since the ninth century. It was through the Buddhist monks of Japan who went to China to study and carried the tea back home on their return that green tea made its way into the Japanese tea cup.

During their study period in China the Japanese Buddhist monks discovered the wonderful shrub and its many benefits. The Japanese were marveled by the drink and immediately began making use of it for various purposes.

It became the most popular drink as it was heavily patronized. The Japanese were also fast to realize the medicinal benefits of green tea and got straight down to extracting the maximum benefits from green tea.

All the tests with the green tea were carried out in the temples of Buddhist monks, and because they were the first to use it they also made it their official drink. The reputation of green tea also made the nobility fall in love with this drink.

The Japanese green tea revolution

The popularity of green tea became so much in Japan, that for couple of centuries they had to import it from China. Then one day the Japanese decided to bring the seeds of green tea shrub from China in order to grow it in their own country. This started the green tea revolution in Japan.

The accessibility of green tea seeds made it possible for the Japanese masses to grow their own green tea. Thus Japan saw a great rise in the consumption of green tea amongst the Japanese people.

It became clear to the Japanese that green tea had tremendous health benefits as they started using it regularly. They were so influenced by the medical qualities as well as the well being of the body that they announced it to be their official drink.

The Japanese were growing green tea in the shade from the beginning. The difference between green tea and black tea is that the black tea leaves are fermented but the green tea leaves are steamed after they are collected.

The beneficial properties of green tea which it retains comes from the practice of steaming the leaves rather than fermenting them. Later they are dried up and powdered

Are there Sexual Headaches?

August 2nd, 2009

Orgasm is supposed to be a pleasurable and happy experience for most people, but it can be less enjoyable for those who find that it starts coital headaches. For these people, sexual activity of any kind can result in coital headache attacks.

Technically, a headache, or cephalalgia, is a symptom of a number of different conditions of the head and sometimes the neck too. They can be classified into two main groups: primary or idiopathic, and symptomatic, although there are other ways of classifying them too; for example by severity.

Put simply, primary headaches have a known or unknown cause, whereas symptomatic headaches are often caused by trauma. Primary headaches include: migraine, tension headaches, cluster headaches and coital headaches, amongst others.

Coital headaches, also called coital cephalalgia or sexual headaches, is a rare, but painful type of headache that starts in the nape of the neck during sexual intercourse, but before climax. It can occur in all conditions where climax is the expected result. The pain can move to behind the eyes and can then be even more severe. Typically the pain will last from a few minutes to an hour or so, but it has been known to last for days in the worst cases.

Men are three times more at risk to coital headaches than women and the age groups most at risk are those between 20 and 25 and 30 and 44. Nobody really knows why this should be. Coital headaches affect about one percent of the population, although this figure could be a lot higher due to people being embarrassed to talk about it.

Coital headaches are benign, meaning that they cause no long-term ill effects, as far as doctors know. It seems that people taking sexual stimulants, like Viagara, are about 10% more at risk to a bout of coital headache. In fact, besides the obvious, temporary pain, the worst effects of coital headaches are differing degrees of dizziness, confusion and stiffness of neck.

However, it is still worth seeing a doctor though, especially in the early cases, just to rule out the more severe causes of headaches, such as brain tumours and blood clots. However, the doctor can do rather little to help by way of cure. He may suggest a complete abstention from any form of sexual practice for a period ranging from days to weeks or he may suggest trying taking medication some time before sexual foreplay commences.

Some of the headache medications that may be taken are indomethacin, imitrex, zomig and propranolol, although if the headaches persist, your doctor may suggest daily preventive medication. People suffering from frequent coital headaches may experience a positive response to migraine preventive medications, such as beta blockers or verapamil. Non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as ibuprofen may similarly be helpful. Coital headaches and migraines are also more likely to occur if the person is in poor physical shape.

However, the treatment for coital headaches for many sufferers can be as simple as bringing your weight up or down to the normal weight for your size. Coital headaches can also be cured in some sufferers by an increased level of exercise, although this could bring on exertion headaches in a few cases.

The good news is though that most headaches related to sex are not serious in nature. In fact, various studies actually suggest that orgasm can relieve headaches and migraine in some cases. This means that for some adults, refusing sex may actually be the reason that delays headache treatment.
